Hi from Niamh

My name is Niamh (Neve) Dunne.  I am 32 years old, from Ireland.  I have been teaching in Asia for almost 8 years now, first in South Korea, then Thailand and nowI have been in TELL programme since 2011.  I previously worked with a lovely bunch of teachers in Kuala Krai and in 2014 I moved to Bachok.  I like living in Malaysia very much, and Kelantan is a beautiful state to work in.  I am very lucky to be working in Bachok, as I love to go to the beach!  The schools I work with are SK Tawang, SK Perupok, SK Pengkalan Chengal, SK Pauh Sembilan and SK  Beris Kubor Besar.

As a mentor, I work with Malaysian English Teachers and increase their confidence in speaking and teaching English.  In our school visits, we do anything, from resource development and co-teaching and demo lessons, to planning lessons and English Days.  In our TPD workshops, we focus on teaching techniques for topics such as phonics, classroom management, storytelling, songs and English events providing a wide range of activity and games to try out in the classroom.  I love to get into the classroom with the pupils for songs, stories and games.

It is always important to keep in mind that everything we do, we do it for the little people!  Our aim is to make learning fun for pupils.  When they are interested in learning and have the opportunity to learn in a fun, interactive way, they will enjoy coming to English lessons.  The teachers in Bachok have been wonderful in welcoming me and I am sure that the 2 years we will spend working along side each other will prove to be a productive and rewarding one!

Keep an eye out for updates of events and news from Bachok-Pasir Puteh soon…..
